History

The Sheboygan Falls Fire Dept. was first organized in 1863 as the Germania Engine Company No. 1, in what was then the Village of Rochester. This original company consisted of volunteer members of the old time "bucket brigade".

The company was renamed the R. A. Williams Fire Engine Company No. 1 in 1884 and a subsidiary Hook and Ladder Company was also formed at this time. The present name, City of Sheboygan Falls Fire Dept. was adopted in 1919.

It is unclear where the Fire Dept. was located until 1909 when it was relocated to the corner of Broadway St. and Maple St. In June 1958 a dedication of the new Fire Station and Municipal Building was held at the present location of 375 Buffalo St.
